2011 Fantasy Football Rules Changes for Lakenheath League

The competition committee met recently over a few cold beers in a smoke filled, greasy spoon to discuss the rule proposals for 2011 from League owners.

Here are the official changes approved unanimously by the four man committee:

1) New owners (rookies in the league for their first year) are assigned a team from the previous year (at random) which can be used for keeper purposes

2) If a new owner chooses not to keep any players from this "legacy" team they inherited, then they will be awarded a draft spot in the top half of the draft. For example, if the league has 14 teams and two new owners play and do NOT keep players from the old teams they took over, then each owner would be guaranteed a draft spot of between 1 and 7. They would draw for their draft spot from a container with only the 1 thru 7 balls.

3) The supplemental draft is expanded to 6 rounds (2 additional players will be drafted starting in 2011). So 20 total players will be drafted in the draft (14 in original draft plus 6 more in the supplemental draft).

4) However, the 20 player roster must be reduced to 18 players prior to the kickoff of the first game of the season. So 2 players must be dropped before Thursdays Kickoff Game. If an owner does not drop 2 players in time, then the commissioner will enforce this rule by dropping the 19th and 20th player drafted by the owner.

5) The trading/add/drop deadline only applies to players on a roster at that deadline. Free agents at that time can be added and dropped and subsequently added again without any restrictions. Only players on a roster at the trading/add deadline are effectively "removed" from the FA list.

6) On weeks with a game prior to Sunday (i.e Thurs and Sat games) owners CANNOT ADD a player after dropping a player who played in the early game. They can drop said player must cannot add a player in his place until after the start of the Sunday games. Note due to the waiver rules the owner effectively cannot add a player until Tues to replace a player who plays early on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
