Lakenheath FF Rules 2015 (Updated)

Lakenheath Fantasy Football League rules-16th season Aug-Dec 2015

1) Yahoo league rules with the following additional rules
2) Draft is Saturday 5 September 2015 in the afternoon.
(Draft normally is on a Saturday on the last weekend before Labor Day but flexs due to local owner availability.  Due to International Owners a start time no earlier than NOON BST is requested (7AM ET))

2a) Draft spots are picked prior to the draft to allow the commissioner to set up the online draft room and test connectivity. Keepers must be declared by Monday 24 August-Draft spots will be chosen on Tuesday 25 August.
2b) Draft slots are drawn at random and the draft is serpentine. Order of who draws ping pong balls is Host, Rookies and then worst team from last year until SB champ.

3) There will be a 20-minute break between the 7th and 8th rounds and the Main draft and supplemental draft.

4) Each team drafts 14 players in the Main draft. Each team roster must have 2 QB, 3 RB, 3 WR, 2 TE, 2 K and 2 Def after the main draft. You must have those exact player amounts but you can draft them in any order. After the draft is over you do not need to maintain these minimums. I.e you can drop a kicker and add another WR or QB etc. The minimums for the main draft ensure owners who cannot attend the draft are afforded a similar team to start.
5) After the main draft a supplemental draft will be held in which each team can draft 6 additional players from any positions. Draft slots for each round of this draft inverse from the Main draft. ). So 20 total players will be drafted in the draft (14 in original draft plus 6 more in the supplemental draft).
6) Each team has 90 seconds to pick. A warning will be given at 15 seconds and 5 seconds. Owners should say their pick and then place the appropriate players sticker on the draft board. Owners should place the sticker on the board but simply calling out his name is good enough to qualify as a pick, he can then place his sticker if no assistant is there to help. If the name is not said before the time expires that pick is missed. The next owner is then given his pick and the “missed” owner gets 10 seconds to pick after that.
7) Starting rosters are 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K 1 Def and 1 Flex (either RB/WR or TE)
8) Owners have until 5 minutes prior to their players game time to submit roster lineup changes. If the Internet site is not working correctly the first step is to immediately post a message on the League Yahoo site stating that you want to start XXXX and bench ZZZZZ. This message will get a time stamp and if it is before or at the 5 minute before game time (i.e 12:55 EST if a 1 PM game) then the commish can make that change later for you. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST SECOND TO MAKE YOUR CHANGES.
If the web site is down, email the commish at slamhendricks2002@yahoo.com with the same info and I will make the change as long as the email was sent before the game started. You will have 5 minutes to send an email as last resort. Do not wait til the last minute!
9) Coaches must grant the commissioner access to their rosters for step #8 to occur. Any coach not allowing this will be banned from the league.
10) Prizes are awarded to the team with the highest regular season Total points and each weeks highest total points. Additional prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are also presented. These awards are far less than the “bragging” rights earned and exercised on a daily basis. The SB trophy is known as the “Hendricks” trophy in honor of the leagues first Super Bowl champion and the founding commissioner.
11) All decisions, which require an official ruling by the commissioner should include discussions with all LFFL owners. The decisions of the commissioner however are final.
12) NO COLLUSION between teams allowed!
13) Once the draft is over all picks are final. The commish will input them into YAHOO league and all other players will all be on waiver wire initially.
14) Keeper Picks must be declared before the draft. If you will not attend the draft either post Keepers on the MB 24 hours before the draft (so everyone can confirm it) or email commish with intentions.
15) A player is only eligible to be a Keeper if you drafted him in the 8th round or later and held him on your roster continuously for the entire season. You can keep 2 such players but only after paying a 4 round penalty (ex if picked in 10th round last year and kept you keep him by forfeiting your 6th round pick the next year). Once a player has been kept and paid a 1st round pick to keep he cannot be kept in subsequent years.
16) Trade deadline is prior to Week 12 games
17) Deleted (was waiver wire rules but Yahoo takes care of this)
18) Competition committee will consist of 4 Owners, one of which is the commissioner. Experience in the league is the #1 requirement for selection. They will meet in the offseason to determine any rule changes. The vote must be unanimous to change the rules.
19) Limit league to 14 teams maximum. With 14 teams, 7 make the playoffs and the #1 team gets a 1st round bye. With 12 teams, 6 make playoffs-top 2 teams get a 1st round bye.
20) Active scoring will be implemented. This means that any player who scores a TD on a KO or P RTN or INT or fumble recovery (if playing defense) will get credit for a TD.
21) The waiver wire system is a Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) system.
In a Free Agents Acquisition Budgets (FAAB) waivers system, each manager receives a $100 to place blind bids on waived players. The manager with the highest bid at the end of the waiver period claims that player and that bid amount is deducted from the team's acquisition budget. If multiple managers place an equal bid on a player, the team with the highest waiver priority (based on reverse of draft order) gets the player.
On Sunday at 1 PM EST all players not on a team will be placed on waivers. None can be added until Tuesday 11:59 PM PST when the waiver request will run based on who bid the most for players. After that time players will be awarded.

Rules clarifications:
If a WR fumbles the ball after a pass then recovers his own fumble for a TD, the QB does NOT get credit for a TD,.
If a K scores a TD on a fake FG. Both the K and the DEF/ST get a TD

22) New owners (rookies in the league for their first year) are assigned a team from the previous year (at random) which can be used for keeper purposes.

22a) If a new owner chooses not to keep any players from this "legacy" team they inherited, then they will be awarded a draft spot in the top half of the draft. For example, if the league has 14 teams and two new owners play and do NOT keep players from the old teams they took over, then each owner would be guaranteed a draft spot of between 1 and 7. They would draw for their draft spot from a container with only the 1 thru 7 balls.

23) On weeks with a game prior to Sunday (i.e Thurs and Sat games) owners CANNOT ADD a player after dropping a player who played in the early game. They can drop said player must cannot add a player in his place until after the start of the Sunday games. Note due to the waiver rules the owner effectively cannot add a player until Tues to replace a player who plays early on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
24) There can be no duplicate NFL playoff contest entries. Once an entry has been posted on the message board-no other owner can post an identical entry. I.e position must have a different player from the first and all subsequent entries.
25) Once the season starts you cannot change your team name. This is to prevent mass chaos when teams change names each week. So pick one and stick with it.
26) Defensive scoring rules have been spruced up. Now a sack is worth 1 point and any turnover (interception or fumble recovery is worth 2 points). Defenses will be scoring more this year going forward.

Week 16 2011 Final Results

Week 16

Slams Slammers win the Super Bowl in grand fashion 123-105 in a Monday Night Football thriller. Bufords Cuzins surged ahead by 14.75 after a gutsy 35.95 point (5 TD) performance from Aaron Rodgers on SNF. Both teams had two key players going into MNF. Buford had 2 NO receivers in WR Lance Moore and TE Jimmy Graham. Slammers had their QB in Drew Brees and ATL WR Roddy White. Lance Moore started the game on fire with 2 catches for 53 yards in the first 5 minutes, then later went out with a hamstring never to return again. That proved fatal to the Cuzins as Brees exploded for 30.25 on 4 TDs and 307 history making yards and Roddy White finished Buford off with 11 beautiful catches and 127 yards (23.7 points)-the difference was Lance Moore’s injury.

Buford wins 2nd place (not that anyone remembers who lost in the Super Bowl….right Kuz?)

Ducks Destroyers destroyed Cowboys 174-94 to garner third place and win his entry fee.

EVERONE remember we have two more contests open to everyone (even the losers like Sammy, Tuna and Spike who did not make the playoffs…oops did I say that out loud? Use inner voice Slam inner voice). Anyway this week is the Week 17 contest where all 14 teams can submit a lineup to win $10. Post on the leagues Yahoo message board 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 K and 1 Def who will play for you this week. Using our leagues scoring. Highest scoring team wins. Submit before the first game on Sunday 1 PM EST (Note no Thurs or SAT or MNF games this week-just 15 Sunday games and one SNF game). You can pick any players you want (they do not have to be on your team).

There will be the same type of contest for the playoffs only you can only have one player from a playoff team and the roster lasts the entire NFL playoffs. More on that next week.

Draft Review of 2011 and look back to 2010

Before I present this years draft review, some have asked how I did last year. I think it was pretty good as I predicted the eventual SB champ and many of this years keepers. Missed on some but more hits then misses.

Lakenheath Draft Review 2010

1 Yellowfins A-

Best Pick: CJ Spiller (15th), J Edleman (16th)

Worst Pick: None

Sleeper: Mohammd Massaquoi Cle WR

2010 Keeper: CJ Spiller (11th) Fred Jackson (4th)

Evaluation: Not really great anywhere (Having 1st pick and AP at RB helps) but not weak anywhere either. Just a good balanced team.

Prediction 10-3. Playoffs losing in 2nd rd (lost in 1sr rd to Slam)

2 Army of Six A-

Best Pick: Wes Welker (6)

Worst Pick: Shawn Nelson TE (17)

Sleeper: Montario Hardesty RB CLE

2010 Keeper: J. Charles (8), C Benson (5)?

Evaluation: Strong at QB, RB and TE. Good at WR. 2 Great keepers helped make this a great draft team. Supplemental draft could have been better

Prediction 9-4 Playoffs for first time in ages. but first round loss spoils the coming out party (lost to Ned Nutters in 1st round)

3 Slams Slammers B+

Best Pick: C. Williams (15) M Bush (16) (started many weeks)

Worst Pick: Favre over Kolb in 5th

Sleeper: Either J Gaffney DEN WR or A. Gonzalez WR IND

2010 Keeper: CJ (3), M Bush (12)

Evaluation: Should have gone for upgraded QB in 3rd with Romo or Schuab and then RB in 5th with J Stewart or J Harrison.

Prediction 9-4 Not as dominant as last years 12-1. Makes playoffs and pulls the rarest of rare a repeat as SB champion! (Crushed in semi finals by Cruisers 132-113)

4 Sammys Slayers B+

Best Pick: A Rodgers (2), M Crabtree (5)

Worst Pick: Either TE in 7th or 8th

Sleeper: Ryan Mathews (1), Matt Moore QB CAR

2010 Keeper: Maclin (10), Tebow (13)

Evaluation: Weak at TE. Should have gone TE instead of WR3 in 6th since WR2 was kept.

Prediction 8-5 Playoffs and if he gets a TE may make it far. SB runner up? Missed playoffs at 4-9. What happened?

5 Cadillac Slim B+

Best Pick: Hakeem Nicks (5)

Worst Pick: DET DEF (14)

Sleeper: None

2010 Keeper: Shonn Green (7)

Evaluation: Santana Moss was a reach in rd 4. KW2 was great steal in rd 7.

Prediction 8-5. Playoffs the promised land. But early exit too.(? What was I thinking)

6 Cruisers B

Best Pick: Jahvid Best (5)

Worst Pick: J Shockey (8)

Sleeper: Austin Collie (15), Mario Manningham (16)

2010 Keeper: S Smith NYG (9)

Evaluation:

Prediction 8-5 and his first playoff appearance and goes to 2nd round (And to SB)

7 Cowboys B

Best Pick: J Stewart (5)

Worst Pick: Buehler DAL K (9) I have doubts he is with them entire season

Sleeper: Dexter Mccluster KC WR/RB? (18)

2010 Keeper: Tashard Choice (8), Nate Burleson (13)

Evaluation: Strong at QB and TE, Good RBs but weak at WR.

Prediction 8-5 and a return to the playoffs. (And a loss in 1st rd to Cruisers)

8 Duck B

Best Pick: Thomas Jones (15) or D Thomas DEN WR (16) both were steals

Worst Pick: Leon Washington (4) that is 4-5 rounds too early

Sleeper: S Breaston WR AZ (6)

2010 Keeper: D Thomas (12)

Evaluation: Strong at WR and TE, weak at RB and QB. Reach for L Washington hurt team. Could have had 8 other starting RBs there.

Prediction 7-6 but just misses playoffs due to tie breaker total points scored. Good effort for first year in FF (miss-team was worse than I thought at 2-11)

9 Tok’s Terminators B-

Best Pick: Chester Taylor (15th) is a steal of the draft.

Worst Pick: S Rice (2) hip injury will limit him this year IMHO

Sleeper: J Campbell (18) Another steal as a Starter

2010 Keeper: C Taylor (11), J Campbell (14)

Evaluation: MB3 in 4th may prove to be a reach. Strong WRs but weak at RB2 and 3. Great supplemental draft. C Taylor will be RB2 by week 6.(NOT!)

Prediction 6-7 no playoffs (finished 8th just missing playoffs)

10 Perps of Pain B-

Best Pick: Donald Brown (15)

Worst Pick: M Cassel (5) too early for QB2

Sleeper: Mike Bell (17) or a B Berrian resurrence (18)

2010 Keeper: A Bradshaw (7)

Evaluation: 2 QBs in first 5 rounds kills a chance at getting good WRs and TE.

Prediction 6-7 no playoffs. (Spot on 2-11)

11 Spikings B-

Best Pick: D Aromashodu CHI WR (16)

Worst Pick: Take your pick R Brown (4) or D Bowe (6) or Joe Webb (18)

Sleeper: Malcom Floyd (8)

2010 Keeper: Kenny Britt (11), Ben Tate (10)

Evaluation: And ok team just not strong enough to keep up. Joe Webb will be first player dropped as he may not make the 53 man roster.

Prediction Somehow they win 7 but miss playoffs. (Spot on as they only managed 6 wins)

12 Crestview Crushers C+

Best Pick: K Kolb (5)

Worst Pick: Reggie Bush (3) was a reach

Sleeper: Justin Forsett (6)

2010 Keeper: Brandon Pettigrew (12)

Evaluation: Too many high risk/high reward players. Ward and TO at WR are at end of careers.

Prediction 6-7 simply by greating coaching but no return trip to playoffs much less SB. (Great coaching gets them to Semi finals only to lose to Ned Nutters and miss repeat trip to SB)

13 Neds Nutters C

Best Pick: keeping Mendenhall (12)

Worst Pick: Matt Forte in 1sr round was a reach of 2 rounds. Vincent Jackson (3) may not play this year with suspension and holdout.

Sleeper: Johny Knox (6)

2010 Keeper: Mendenhall (8)

Evaluation: Drafted K in 7th before first TE. Team is TE weak

Prediction 5-8. A bitter disappointment and completely disavows all acknowledgement of Matt Forte. (Missed on this as they ride Forte and late V JAx all the way to SB)

14 Coz Crushers C

Best Pick: Devin Hester (9) and Tim Hightower (15) were steals

Worst Pick: Mark Sanchez NYJ QB (5) was a huge reach. Better to secure a RB2 or WR2 there.

Sleeper: None

2010 Keeper: Tim Hightower (11)

Evaluation: 2 QBs and 2 TEs in first 7 picks when only 2 of those 4 players can start each week means RB and WR is going to be weak. Strong at QB and TE and weak at RB and WR. He may find himself starting H Miller at flex most weeks.

Prediction 4-9 Some wins but more losses. Vows to read more FF books!  (SPOT ON! 2-11 finish)

And now for 2011

Slams review in order of team grade (highest first-this means many of the non attending/non sending draft rankings teams are near the bottom). Overall I think it was a tougher draft. No teams were below C and few teams were above B+. So more parity this year then in past drafts. No real “bye week” teams (teams you know you can beat) either.

Playoff bound

1 Slams Slammers (SB winner)

2 Neds Nutters (SB loser)

3 Sammys Slayers

4 Duck

5 Cruisers

6 Spikings

7 Crestview Crushers

Non Playoff Teams

8 Yellowfins

9 Tok’s Terminators

10 Gunslingers

11 Buford Cuzins

12 Cowboys

13 Cozs Cripplers

14 Army of Six

1 Pick Gunslingers C+

Best Pick: Joe Flacco (8th)

Worst Pick: Roy Williams (6th)

Sleeper: Roy Helu (16th)

2011 Keeper: Julio Jones (15th)

Evaluation: May have reached on Buress in 4th and Tebow in 11th. Good safe first draft with some good late round picks.

Prediction: 6-7 missing playoffs

2 Pick Spikings B-

Best Pick: Every supplemental pick round 15-20.

Worst Pick: Ryan Fitzpatrick (8th) is the best backup QB?; Brandon Pettigrew in 6th a little early too

Sleeper: Danny Woodhead (15th or Shane Vereen) (16th) whichever stands out at NE

2011 Keeper: Kenny Britt (11th), Robert Meacham (17th)

Evaluation: Love Shonn Greene in 2nd but Reggie Wayne may be risky in the 3rd. Solid but nothing special

Prediction: 7-6 sqeaks into playoffs

3 Pick Buford Cuzins C+

Best Pick: Lance Moore (9th)

Worst Pick: Take your pick: Mark Ingram (3rd), BJ Green Elis (5th? really) or Christian Ponder (11th) as your backup QB

Sleeper: Johny Knox (16th)

2011 Keeper: None ok maybe Lance Moore or Ponder as a token Viking

Evaluation: Pulled trigger too early on Rodgers as QB. With 5 other RBs kept should have gone for a RB here and Rd 2. Weakness is RB2.

Prediction: 5-8

4 Pick Yellowfins B- (Was a B orginally but they stink more and more as time goes by)

Best Pick: Nate Burleson (19th)

Worst Pick: Ryan Williams (7th) as he was out for season by then. Wasted pick

Sleeper: Mathew Stafford may prove to be QB1 for this team over Matty Ryan

2011 Keeper: Not much. Davone Bess (16th)?

Evaluation: Weak at RB which is not where you want to be.

Prediction: 6-7 missing playoffs

5 Pick Cowboys C

Best Pick: Ben Roethlisberger (6th)

Worst Pick: Jason Witten (3rd) too early

Sleeper: Dan Bailey K Dal

2011 Keeper: DeMarco Murray (15th)

Evaluation: Left off all WAS players. Too picky. Some high evaluations of strange players. Tashard Choice should not have been kept!

Prediction: 6-7 as he always makes some good in season moves

6 Pick Neds Nutters A-

Best Pick: Greg Jennings (2), Keepers in Mendenhall (7) and Vick (14)

Worst Pick: Fort……..nevermind. MSW (6) too homery.

Sleeper: Brandon Jacobs (16)

2011 Keeper: Mendenhall (7) and Vick (14)

Evaluation: Cooley is hurt but at 11 could be value, Buehler may not be the DAL K week 4, great supplemental picks add to a B+ draft. Sproles in 5th may have been early.

Prediction: 9-4 losing in SB to Slams Slammers

7 Pick Sammys Slayers B+ (Lowered from A- bc I always like their draft but the coach someone inevitably screws it up)

Best Pick: Finely (5), Owen Daniels (7)

Worst Pick: Ryan Torrain (6)

Sleeper: Sam Bradford (8)

2011 Keeper: Maclin (10) and Mike Williams (14) again

Evaluation: Hate every supplemental pick and most will be gone by week 6. Strong draft boosted by 2 quality keepers. Anyone see a trend here?

Prediction: 8-5, loses in first round of playoffs

8 Pick Ducks Destroyers B+

Best Pick: AJ Green (14), CJ Spiller (15) and any player with 2 initials before last name.

Worst Pick: ? Josh Freeman as keeper in 6th?

Sleeper: Matt Schaub (8) may be starting more games for Duck than Freeman

2011 Keeper: AJ Green (14), CJ Spiller (15), Kendall Hunter (18), Andy Dalton (20)

Evaluation: Watch this team. Great depth. Little weak at RB2 but backups could help with a little luck.

Prediction: 8-5 playoffs with loss in semi finals

9 Pick Cruisers B

Best Pick: Peyton Manning (6) steal of draft, assuming he plays…LOL

Worst Pick: Jahvid Best (1), Ryan Grant (3) but great HC for Grant in Starks

Sleeper: Tim Hightower (15)

2011 Keeper: Mario Manningham (13), James Starks (16)

Evaluation: On paper it looks really good, but I think it could prove to be a house of cards waiting to fall. RB has tons of question marks and none of his 3 RBs could be starting by our playoff time

Prediction: 7-6 no SB repeat, sneaks into playoffs only to lose to #1 seed Slams Slammers. Ah the irony in that.

10 Pick Cozs Cripplers C

Best Pick: Reggie Bush (4) could be big in Miami

Worst Pick: Dez Bryant (2) a little early more of a homer pick I suspect. Same with Romo in 3rd rd.

Sleeper: Lee Evans (7), Stephen Ridley (16)

2011 Keeper: Colt McCoy (11)

Evaluation: Just nothing to love. No bad picks really just too early and that knocks down the value of the team.

Prediction: 5-8 no playoffs. Maybe fantasy baseball next year?

11 Pick Crestview Crushers B- (was C+ but upon further review upgraded)

Best Pick: Steve Johnson (2)

Worst Pick: Jeremy Shockey (8), Henne (10)

Sleeper: Beanie Wells (4)

2011 Keeper: Arian Foster (13), Kyle Orton (19)?

Evaluation: Nothing to write home about. Safe, medicocre picks. Arian Foster as keeper lifts team. RB and WR solid. QB maybe weak as Henne sucks.

Prediction: 7-6 playoffs, out in 1st round.

12 Pick Toks Terminators B-

Best Pick: Kolb (9)

Worst Pick: Cassel (7) ug!

Sleeper: Jared Cook (10), Greg Little (17) ,Andre Roberts (19)

2011 Keeper: Brandon Jackson (18), LaRod Stephens-Howling (20)

Evaluation: Had to go RB-RB with later pick, keepers and no RB keeper. Should have kept Darren McFadden. Nice finish with 2 K and 2 D. Love Greg Little and Andre Roberts at WR

Prediction: 6-7 missing playoffs.

13 Pick Slams Slammers A

Best Pick: Drew Brees (4)

Worst Pick: Gronkowski (6)

Sleeper: Olsen (8)

2011 Keeper: Chris Johnson (4), LeSean McCoy (7)

Evaluation: Briliant draft. Helps with 2 Top 10 RBs as keepers. Having said that RB may be a little weak depending on J Stewart situation. QB and WR strong. Took some chances on TE.

Prediction: 11-2, SB champion!

14 Pick Army of Six C

Best Pick: Felix Jones (2), Mike Thomas (5)

Worst Pick: Jacoby Ford (5), Brent Celek (7)

Sleeper: Montario Hardesty (19)

2011 Keeper: Jamaal Charles (8), Demaryius Thomas (16)

Evaluation: Excellent at RB, weak at WR and TE. QB is depending on Cutler as A Smith could be a bench warmer.

Prediction: 5-8 no playoffs this year.
